Teaching Material
Two instructional DVDs: one for complete beginners; the other for intermediate students.
The Beginners DVD is actually a DVD-ROM, which can only be played in a computer, because it contains far more material than can be stored on a normal DVD, and features a choice of interactive multi-angle close up views, printable sheet music, and lots of extras. Covering both right and left hand playing, Sandy leads you from absolute basics through to fairly competent ability in nine entertaining and in-depth lessons, and five extra practice video tracks (both normal and slow versions), plus seven live practice tracks with backing band.
The Intermediate DVD, for those who are not complete beginners, is a regular DVD, which can be played in any DVD player (including a computer), and which covers the major styles used in Scottish traditional music: a march, jig, waltz, strathspey and two reels, in six entertaining lessons. Particular attention is paid to explaining Sandy’s innovative bass patterns on the left hand as well as how to perform impressive techniques on the right hand, such as Sandy’s rapid-fire triplets. An accompanying booklet with more information, photographs and sheet music of all the tunes is included with the DVD.
Sandy is currently working on a Teach Accordion book, for use in conjunction with the DVDs.
