THE SENSATIONAL JIMI SHANDRIX EXPERIENCE

The Sensational Jimi Shandrix Experience have established a reputation as one of the top ceilidh bands in the world: playing for high energy dances  from Bangkok to Bogotá, Melbourne to Moscow. Led by legendary accordionist, Sandy Brechin, the band have been frequent guests of St. Andrews Societies and Caledonian Societies around the globe, as well as  being ever-popular at home. They are an annual fixture at ‘Edinburgh’s Hogmanay’, where they play for the outdoor ‘Keilidh’ for over 2000 dancers, and have performed twice for private charity ceilidhs for Prince Charles, at Holyrood House and the opening of Dumfries House, as well as Celtic Connections, Belladrum, Blazin in Beauly, The Isle of Jura and Skye Festivals, to name but a few.

‘Shandrix’ is usually a five-piece consisting of accordion, fiddle, drums, bass and guitar, but can sometimes swell to a mighty eight-piece, with the addition of keyboards, whistles and mandolin. All your favourite ceilidh dances, played with unprecedented energy and finesse. A joy to dance to and also a great listen. Led by the ever-inventive Sandy Brechin, whose unique, humorous style of dance-calling gets everyone up on the floor!

Band leader Sandy Brechin, from Edinburgh, is one of the greatest exponents of the Scottish accordion. He is well known throughout the world, having toured and recorded extensively with Bùrach”, “The Sandy Brechin Band“, and many others.
